There is another SD mux type unit in testing at the moment but it's not widely available.
I'm testing SDWire (https://wiki.tizen.org/SDWire). It seems to work with RPi for example. It doesn't work with all boards I tried, so it's more try-and-error thing. As for LAVA part it can be used with 'flasher'. The support isn't ideal as it doesn't do proper rollback in case job times out at some point (you need to make sure dd doesn't time out). But for my use case it's good enough.

No, it is not. The project died due to lack of maintenance and excessive complexity arising from feature creep.
